The (dis)ABILITY of Living

As an independent woman it's been very difficult having new abilities. How I walk when I'm outside and how I navigate my space when I'm in crowds. Even putting on eyeliner, my new ability is doing it by touch because I cannot see where the liner really is.
There are many new things that I am learning. I've been putting furniture together by myself for decades, even yes, IKEA! Recently, I put together some cube shelves for my living room. It took me most of the day due to my limited depth perception and not being able to gage where exactly screws go in and putting the screwdriver into the grooves of the screw heads. I've learned to work through a lot of things by touch, feeling where I need to make my way.
It's a journey of new abilities through my disability that is unseen. It's also a vulnerability that empowers me.
My hope is that through my journey I can inspire and encourage others through theirs.
